Set early in season 2, shortly after “Second to None”, Kirk, Chekov, Spock, and Sulu are ordered back to Castor as Heather and Jon Masters are missing and there is word that aliens are on the planet. Arriving in South Bend, in the icy cold of winter, there is already trouble afoot when they materialize just a few feet from a body. Despite Kirk’s best laid plans to keep Chekov safe and included, within a short time Kirk is in jail for murder, and Chekov is alone in the city, his worst fears come true–he’s back on the planet without learning the language, without time to prepare for his role, and this time, he’s blind.
